Parking guide · Castello, Cagliari

Where to park
near Castello

Castello is a limited-traffic zone (ZTL): visitors' cars can't enter the quarter. The good news is that just outside the walls there are free and paid car parks, linked to the B&B by short walks and public lifts. Here's everything you need, with maps and prices.

Before you set off: put the car park in your sat-nav, not the B&B address

If you enter Via Alberto Lamarmora 18, your sat-nav may take you into the ZTL, where cameras issue fines. Pick one of the car parks below and use the «Walking route» button for the last stretch.

Free parking

Free, but you need to find a space: in high season it's best to arrive early or in the evening.

Viale Buoncammino

Way into Castello
Porta Cristina → Piazza Arsenale

The panoramic avenue along the ridge, with views over the whole city: it's the nearest free parking. Look for a space as close as possible to Porta Cristina, then walk into Castello through Piazza Arsenale. Watch out: on part of the avenue the lines are blue, which means paid. In high season it can be full.

Blue-line spaces are only paid at certain times. If you arrive in the evening or at the weekend you can also leave the car on the blue lines near Castello (Viale Buoncammino, Viale Regina Elena) for free — just remember to pay when the paid hours start. Always check the sign for that area.

Useful tips

A few tips for a stress-free arrival.

  • Sat-nav

Set the car park you've chosen as your destination, not the B&B address: that way you won't drive into the ZTL by mistake.

  • ZTL and cameras

Don't drive into Castello: the entrances are monitored by cameras. The spaces in Piazza Indipendenza are reserved for residents too.

  • Arriving in the evening or at the weekend

Blue lines are free on Sundays, public holidays and Monday to Saturday from 8 PM to 9 AM and from 1 to 4 PM.

  • Lifts not running?

In summer the lifts may stop during the hottest hours. You can walk up along Via Ubaldo Badas, or park on Viale Buoncammino, which is already at Castello's level.

  • Heavy luggage

We can arrange a transfer on request: write to us before you arrive.

Information checked in October 2026 against public sources (APCOA, Telepass, Comune di Cagliari). Prices, times and lift operation may change: always check the signs on site.
